Change is often difficult. Painful even. And it pains me that my adventure has ended. It seems like I was there for a lifetime and a split second. But it is now that I say a painful Aufwiedersehen to Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
For the past three years of my life I’ve been constantly traveling, constantly having adventures. It is with a heavy heart that I believe my travels are over for awhile. But I’ve learned something each time I’ve gone abroad, and this time I’ve learned that adventure is everywhere: whether I’m searching for the Loch Ness monster, catching rays on a Mediterranean beach, or just going to class: each of us has the choice to make every day an adventure; whether you’re traveling the world or just going to class, you can choose to live every day with the happiness and excitement that travel and adventure brings.
As I look out over the lush green mountains that were covered in snow when I arrived, I reflect on all I’ve learned and all I’ve experienced. Of course, my German improved greatly and I finally got my C1 level certificate. I also learned a lot about myself. As Oscar Wilde once said “only the shallow know themselves” and I agree with that: so I know I still have a lot to learn . I mean what fun would that be, to have everything all figured out? But hey, that’s all part of making each day an adventure. As far as experiences go, I couldn’t possibly regale you with all the details, but they changed my life. So until I get to go on adventures far away again, I will make every day an adventure.
And there are still so many things in life I haven’t experienced; so many adventures I haven’t had yet. I look forward to those now more than ever.
So here’s to looking forward to the next chapter of my life and my next adventure!
