Florence: First Week

After my first week, I can honestly say I am absolutely in love with Florence. This place is breathtaking and I have made some amazing friends. I am so lucky to be living with three super fun girls and also be in a program with so many wonderful people. Below is a picture of my roommates and I at Piazzale Michaelangelo. Not only have I met some amazing people, but my roommates and I have one of the best apartments in the city. We are located right by the Santa Croce church, a prime location in a city where you walk everywhere! I’m not kidding. I’m averaging about 10 miles a day, so I feel for the students living across the river. It’s also a huge plus that I get to walk by this beautiful church every time I leave my house.

Our house isn’t too shabby either.

I’m in a double room with the tallest ceilings and a view I never get tired of. There are two more single bedrooms in our apartment with equally incredible views. We are also extremely lucky to be blessed with A/C units in each room (Florence is not big on A/C).

Our kitchen is pretty standard for Florence. It functions as the dining area, living room, laundry room, as well as cooking space. I will say the fridges here are super small and there are no dryers so plan ahead on laundry (side note: the washer also takes 2h15m per load)!

Other than that we have two bathrooms, only one with a shower. The showers are notoriously small here but it’s not a huge issue. Our place is definitely one of the nicest I’ve seen and I’m obsessed with it!

Overall, this first week has been a dream. I’m getting used to my surroundings and can’t wait to experience more!
