Well, I’ve survived my first few nights in Florence! I’ve got to say, getting here was A LOT more difficult than I though it’d be. I had assumed there would be people all over the Rome airport to help us find the train we needed to be on, but I was so wrong. Two planes, one shuttle, two trains, and one taxi later we made it to our hotel for the night. My boyfriend and I decided to fly in a day earlier than our program check-in date to do some exploring of our own. Unfortunately, the jet lag was REAL and we slept from 2pm – 9pm. We did a little sight seeing that night then tried to rest up before checking in with our school office the next morning.
The next day was incredibly hectic because there was a huge festival going on and many streets were blocked off to cars. We lugged our bags around the cobblestone streets to the SAI office. Once there, we got our apartment keys and headed out to find our homes for the next six weeks. My apartment is steps from the Santa Croce! The view is absolutely breathtaking (I’ll post photos and more about my apartment later).
Tomorrow will be the first day of class, but tonight we have a hike to Piazzale Michelangelo. With so much history and culture, I cannot wait to immerse myself in this city!
