So for the past week, my mother, along with her two best friends, and my two best friends came all the way to Italy to spend their Spring Break with me. I had been counting down the days until I got to see them! When they finally arrived in Florence, we took a train to Rome to spend the weekend there. The weather was perfect, so we did all the touristy things, like see the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and of course a tour of the Vatican. We had great timing and even got to see the Pope while he gave his Sunday blessing. Really amazing experience. The amount of people there was overwhelming.
My favorite part of the weekend in Rome was of course the food. We ate at the BEST restaurant called Tony’s. I wouldn’t mind taking the train back for a day just to eat there again!
Monday afternoon, we walked to the Coliseum and then headed back on the train to Florence. I showed them around my favorite city and took them to all of my favorite places to eat. It was so great having my best friends here! Of course we went out every night while the adults went to bed. We did plenty of shopping and eating while they were here. We ate at some of the best restaurants in Florence. I tried to savor it as much as possible because I knew once my mom left, it was back to eating on a budget! For our last day together, we decided to take a private wine tour in Chianti, Tuscany. Really great experience! Once we left there, we stopped in San Gimignano, which has been one of the prettiest places I have seen so far. I am so thankful that the sun was out the entire time everyone was here visiting. I couldn’t have asked for better weather.
It was sad seeing them go, but now I have my own Spring Break to look forward to! My friend Amy and I will be doing a Best of the West trip, going to Barcelona, Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Paris. Can’t wait to tell you guys all about it!
